The "C" Word

cancer. noone wants to hear that word. it just sucks. no way around it. my nanny (my grandma) has it. it has been a rough couple of weeks. physically, mentally, spiritually. it's hard to see my nanny like this. it's hard to see my mom see her mom like this. it's hard to see my papa watch his wife, the woman he has been married to for almost 67 years (their anniversary is jan 1) like this. it's just plain hard.
she had a bioposy done today, so we'll know more info in a couple of days. looks as if it's ovarian cancer that has spread to her lungs and chest cavity. not good. not good at all.
i'm angry that this wasn't caught. why wasn't this caught earlier? my nanny and papa live in a small town in oklahoma, but we brought them to texas to be by us and to be cared for by better doctors.
for now we wait. waiting is hard.

have many pics to post and lots of other things to post soon. christmas eve, christmas, gracie's bday, fun little outings. just needed to get this off my chest. thanks for listening blogger friends. i am thankful for you!

My Baby is FIVE!

To my sweet, sweet Gracie girl~

You are five today! FIVE! You are such a sweet little girl. Very, very loving. You give out hugs and kisses all the time and tell us you love us a million times a day. I love hearing it!Every.Single.Time!

You are shy around other people, but you warm up after a bit. You are extremely curious and fearless. Stitches and glue you've had several times. Scootering and riding bikes is your favorite thing to do while outside, and you love to play with Polly Pockets, Barbies, Pet Shops and your new doll house while inside. And you love to play with your sister. You admire Haylee!!!

You love wearing dresses and you adore shoes, purses and jewelry. A little fashionista is what you are. Pink glasses are an accessory that you had to get this year, and you look absolutely adorable in them! You get compliments on them everywhere we go.

Tonight at dinner, you informed us that you would like for everyone to call you Elizabeth from now on. That's your middle name. Hmmm, we'll have to see about that one. Maybe Grace Elizabeth will do. That's so you. You say and do things to make us laugh all the time.

We're having family over tomorrow to celebrate your birthday and then we'll have your 'friend' birthday party with your buddy, Ella, in a couple of weeks.

Happy Birthday, my sweet little angel! We love you so, so, so much!

Love, Mommy

Parade

A couple of weeks ago, on a freezing morning, we were picked up by these two-Britney and T and also . . .

this sweet little baby girl, Maci. It was cold, finger-numbing cold, but the parade was still fun!

This family I love.

The 4 kids--Gracie, Maci, H and T

The "little" ones

The "big" ones. It makes me so happy that these two still hang out, just like they did when they were babies. Tiny little babies.

Bob the Builder, blah, blah, blah, Yes, he can!

When we first got downtown, we bundled up the kids and went for a potty break. We parked in that red parking garage behind H, just like we did a few years ago with Casey and Britney.

An attempt at a pic with me and my girls. G was not having it.

I heart this picture. This is so Haylee!

And here's G and her pouty self. The troubles of being 4.

Pretty sure this is why G was pouting. She wanted to be where H was. But later on in the day, Maci was calling out G's name and telling her to sit by her, and all was good in the world of G!

Santa!!!

This is totally not related to the parade at all, but I had to show my sweet little Sugar dog and her new bed. This was supposed to be her Christmas present, but I could not wait to give it to her. She's diggin' her new bed. And, I'm glad I gave it to her.

Family Photo Shoot

A couple of weeks ago we had a photo session with a great photographer here in Frisco. It was for about an hour and we had a great time. At first Gracie didn't want anything to do with the camera, but she warmed up and started acting like her crazy self. Haylee never has a problem with the camera. My sweet little camera loving Haylee.
The pictures turned out great! She took a zillion, lots of candids (which I like), and I got to keep the CD. Here are just a few . . .

Too sweet for words

My little family

Me and my girls. True love.

Not so fond of this pic of me, but I love the girls in the background. So funny!

My soulmate, my true love, my best friend. I'm so thankful that God picked me to be his wife. Seriously, head-over-heels in love with this man! Ok, enough cheese!

My December baby. So precious. This little miss is about to be 5!

Making hearts. Soon to be breaking them.

Bryan is always making me laugh. He's a funny man!

My beautiful first born. The one who taught me a different kind of love. The mommy love. It's a powerful thing!

My sweet angels

Pure happiness

I love these girls!

Hope you all have a great weekend! We're looking forward to dinner with friends on Friday night, the Neiman Marcus parade with the Soladay-Jones family Saturday morning and the UT game Saturday evening!!! TEXAS FIGHT!!!!

I Survived!

And, I have to say, I actually enjoyed subbing today. For ten two year olds! Now, I wouldn't want to do it every day or anything but I would sub again in that class. I had to wipe zero butts and if they had a snotty nose, I handed them a tissue! Lots of hand washing and 'special' soap as they call it, which is hand sanitizer.
Being back in a classroom was refreshing. I miss teaching. Not so sure I would feel that way if I had a full-time teaching job though. We'll see what happens . . .

One more thing

I forgot to mention that I am subbing tomorrow at Gracie's preschool. For the 2's class. 2's? Really? I remember saying yes when they asked, but now I'm wondering why I said yes. No, no. I joke. I'm excited. And a little nervous. I have no problem with sitting on the floor, playing and helping them open their lunches and stuff. I'm just hoping I don't have to wipe butts or snotty noses! Surely they won't make the sub do that, right? Another teacher will be in there. I'm almost positive that she'll take care of all that stuff, right? Yes, I'm right.

So, wish me luck. Because I'm going to need it. 10 two year olds in one room. Yikes!!!

Look!

I opened the back door to let Sugar out, and I was so surprised! Snow and lots of it! It was beautiful, and the girls loved it! Soon after it started, it stopped. Turned to rain and now all the snow is gone. All we're left with is water. But, it was fun while it lasted. I've been hearing that it's supposed to happen again on Friday. So, we'll see . . .

Here's my little cutie all bundled up to go to school. It's cold here, people! And, on a side note, if ONE more person says that Gracie has something on her face, like breakfast or some other food, I might scream! Clearly I am a mom that keeps my kids clean. It is a boo-boo for Pete's sake! A boo-boo! And, I can't put anything on it or cover it up. It's all glued up and it peels off on its own. Ok. I'm done. Back to my post.

Look who we saw yesterday! Yep, the Big Guy himself, Santa. I had to take a picture of my picture so it's not the best and you can see my flash. I, unlike Casey, couldn't figure my scanner out. I'm sure it's not my fault though. I'm sure something isn't plug in or something like that!
Look at all these good little girls and boys . . . We all had a good time seeing Santa and having hot chocolate afterwards!
Here's little miss playing on my laptop. She loves to do ABC games on the computer. She is learning so much this year. I'm so thankful for her pre-K teachers!!
And, here's Haylee doing her homework. Or zoning out. Or taking a break. Or whatever. Sweet girl.
